Public Comment on School Speed Zone Enforcement

The City of Toronto has installed 10 pilot Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras and is ready to install 50 more under the City’s Vision Zero 2.0 pedestrian safety plan. These cameras have been operating on a pilot basis for data collection only and have not involved the issuance of tickets or charges as the regulations necessary from the Province of Ontario have not yet been enacted. The Provincial government is now seeking public comment on proposed changes to the Highway Traffic Act that would allow cities to start enforcement in school zones based on data collected from these cameras.
