Eglinton Park Re-do

November 14, 2019

The current "Master Plan" can be viewed here.

For the past few years there has been consideration of creating a new “master plan” for Eglinton Park. The most recent Public Meeting was held in June. Fair to say there is no clear consensus at this time as what (if any) a “new” layout and new uses for the Park should look like.

Under consideration at this time ...
* the removal of the south baseball diamond and the installation of a permanent outfield fence for the north diamond
* an offleash dog area somewhere between the field house and the parking lot
* a fire pit
* “seasonal” basketball courts in the parking lot

There are many more changes being talked about for the park. ARECA has representation on the working group.

One of ARECA’s long standing “asks” for Eglinton Park has been to get it to a state of good repair. Repairs to the stairs and trimming of the trees so it is safe to travel the stairway; lighting for the stairway and path along the east end are among them. Recent findings of needles and other drug findings are also of concern.

ARECA wants to hear what you think!
