Planning Application for 500 Duplex Avenue – Meeting March 21/22
March 15, 2022
As the general continues to be bombarded with new large developments, the Applicant for the property at 500 Duplex (at Roselawn) has snubbed the process and in turn the community and the City. Here is an Email from Councillor Colle regarding this matter ... As you now know, the applicant has decided to skip the rest of the planning process with the city and take his proposal directly to the Province's Ontario Land Tribunal by appealing it. In addition, he has decided not to attend the public Community Consultation Meeting on March 21, 2022. This is the valuable meeting were both the applicant's team and the city team present the proposal to the public and garner your opinions, comments and ideas to help inform the final development. Unfortunately, this Appeal takes the final decision out of City Council's hands giving the Ontario Land Tribunal, a provincial government body, the final say. https://olt.gov.on.ca/. Please be assured the City will be represented by the City Solicitor's Office at the OLT and we will continue to seek to work with the applicant during the interval. I urge you to contact your Provincial member and the office of Premier Ford asking them to support the City and the community in their opposition to this extreme development. Do not hesitate to contact Linda McCarthy (Linda.McCarthy@toronto.ca) in my office if you have questions or concerns.
