1066 Avenue Road

This was another development within ARECA that was met with much opposition from the community. The main opposition was that the development was inappropriate for the neighbourhood.

Once on this site was St. James Bond United Church.  The congregation amalgamated with Fairlawn United Church and put this property up for sale. Despite objections from local residents and the larger ARECA Community, the proposed development of a 7-storey building was  supported by Ward Councillor Karen Stintz.  This, despite the fact the land is zoned for a maximum of 4 storeys. This caused much upset within ARECA and while not condoned by ARECA, caused graffiti on the hoarding.

The church was demolished shortly after the sale closed and now houses a Senior's residence.
